On October 1, 2026, PhilHealth signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HMOs and PHIs at the Department of Finance (DOF) Building in Manila to formally launch this collaborative healthcare initiative.
The ceremonial signing was attended by acting PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine C. Ho, PhilHealth Board Member and Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go, and executives from participating private healthcare groups, including Marc Jason Jalandoni, Chief Business Development Officer of Medicare Plus Inc.
The YAKAP–HMO/PHI Benefit Complementation creates a more seamless healthcare system to prevent billing both PhilHealth and private healthcare coverage providers for the same medical expenses.
For Filipinos seeking medical care, PhilHealth’s Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) will serve as the initial layer of protection, covering consultations, 13 laboratory tests, selected medicines, and six cancer screenings. HMOs and PHIs can help shoulder medical expenses beyond
PhilHealth’s benefit limits or scope of coverage. Depending on the member’s plan, it may include hospital room upgrades, specialized procedures, and branded medications.
PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine C. Ho said the team-up of PhilHealth, HMOs, and PHIs helps Filipinos get greater value from every peso spent on healthcare.
PhilHealth Board Member and Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go emphasized the importance of working together in building a “healthier and more productive Philippines”.
